Tomato Harvest Recipe

I'm ready for Fall, cooler weather and fresh vegetables. I know it's not even September yet, but the kids are back in school today so that's close enough for me.  Here's my first recipe of the season:

White Bean Tomato Salad

1 can of Cannellini, Navy or Great Northern beans, rinsed and drained

2 beautiful tomatoes, diced

2 T. olive oil

1 t. lemon juice

2 t. white wine vinegar

1 t. minced garlic or shallot

Salt and pepper to taste

(You could substitute bottled Italian dressing for a quick meal)

Gently mix the beans and tomatoes together in a medium sized bowl. Stir together the next four ingredients in a small jar or bowl, then pour over tomatoes and beans. Mix gently and let sit for five minutes. Add salt and black pepper, then taste; if your beans do not have much salt you may find it needs more.

Serve with bread for a light supper.

Optional ingredients:

Diced fresh celery
Slivers of fresh basil leaves or a little chopped fresh parsley
A little grated Parmesan
A little feta cheese

Things that make my heart beat faster...

Every now and then I come across an item that makes my heart rate go up several beats per minute... And some day....well you most likely know the end of that phrase!

    Vintage Plaster Architectural Fragment

The serenity on the face of this architectural fragment makes me sigh with contentment, what a pleasure it would be to look at this every day.

Vintage Set of 7 Cast Iron Pins and Silvered Balls

We have sold vintage and antique miniature bowling sets for several years but I have never seen one like this before....I am afraid this would have to be a "keeper" would be wonderful no matter where it was displayed!

Lately, antique and vintage Industrial items have been tugging at my heart..just look at this amazing light.
           Large Industrial Flood Light
I am thinking this would have to be another "keeper"!

When I find items that combine storage with the Industrial look my heart rate really goes up...imagine all the treasures this unit would hold..
Something else I am partial too is baskets, old Industrial Storage this one...
I could store lots of stuff in this basket!

Well, that is just about all my heart can stand for right now...what are some of the things that make your heart beat faster????
If you click on the name under each item you will be taken to the shop and the item :)
Have fun...

Summer Blues

Well, we’re coming to the end of August and the signs of summers end are here.  Kids are heading back to school.  Daily summer routines are adjusting to the kids getting back to school.  Teachers have been getting their rooms ready.  More steady traffic on the highways.  Ah yes, the summer is coming to a close.  In honor of this, I’ve created another Etsy treasury to share my thoughts.  I just couldn’t resist. So go grab your coffee and bagel, get comfy and click each photo to go visit the shops and look around.  Hope you enjoy!

Have a great weekend!  And thanks for stopping by.

Coming Home

A couple of weeks ago my husband made an emergency trip to Italy to be with his mom.
She lives in the states most of the time but still has a house and a piece of property over in Italy. Anyway, she was having some health problems and my husband was able to go and be with her. As it turns out things are ok with her and she decided to come home with him… (yay!)

So now they are home safe and sound.
I did a search for coming home and these are some items that came up, both vintage and handmade. It was fun to see some different interpretations for “coming home”. There were a lot of things for bringing newborns home, and as sweet as they are I was looking for something a little different.

They say home is where the heart is, or home is where you hang your hat,

or as a friend posted, home is whenever I’m with you.

You can feel at home when you see warm glowing lights.

I think one of the sweetest “coming home” is when a soldier has returned from a deployment.

Just remember as Dorothy says “there’s no place like home”
